The Cedars Inn at 305 Front Street in Beaufort, owned by Sam and Linda Dark has been nominated by the prestigious Condé Nast Johansens international travel organization for its coveted "Best Small Inn in North America" award, which includes properties throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Bermuda, Mexico, and the Pacific. The Cedars is only one of four inns nominated for the award in 2005. In addition, The Cedars has also been chosen by the Fodors travel group as one of the fifteen best inns in the United States.

The Cedars has been selected by Condé Nast Johansens to be listed in its North American edition of "Recommended Hotels, Inns and Resorts" since 2003. The directory is the principal reference to prestigious, independently owned, annually inspected and recommended accommodations, offering diversity and excellence. The company sells and distributes its guides directly to high spending independent international travelers who subsequently make direct, commission free bookings to the establishments that are recommended.
