Selected by the Raleigh News & Observer as one of North Carolina's Ten Best Inns, THE CEDARS is a casually elegant inn, with a past! Sitting proudly behind a stand of old cedars, THE CEDARS in Beaufort has been watching over the harbor of this historical port town for more than two hundred years. Built circa 1768, the original portion of the inn was the home of William Borden, son of a Rhode Island shipwright and gracious host to visiting sea captains trading along the Eastern Seaboard.

Now the Innkeepers, Sam and Linda Dark, have lovingly restored and furnished the Inn with an eclectic mix of treasures from around the world. THE CEDARS seaside inn revives Borden's tradition of welcoming guests and providing a refreshing respite any time of the year.

Reception Area - Includes our registration desk, wine bar and small gift shop.
Living Room - Warm and inviting, the living room has a cozy fireplace, down-filled furniture and a small library with local and travel information for all guests to enjoy.
Dining Room - Elegant and intimate, the dining room is the spot where THE CEDARS’ famous breakfast is served each morning. Breakfast is available between 8:00-9:00 a.m. Coffee is available at 6:00 a.m. for early risers.

Second Floor:

RESERVATIONS and GUEST INFORMATION

Deposit: A one-night’s deposit is required at the time of reservation. Your deposit will be charged to your credit card at the time of reservation.

Confirmation Number: You will be given a confirmation number when you make your reservation. This guarantees your room. No additional confirmation is necessary.

Cancellation: If your plans change, please let us know as soon as possible. We require notice of cancellation 7 days in advance of your arrival date to refund your deposit. An Administrative Fee of $15 will be charged to process all cancellations.

No-Show Policy: Guests who fail to notify the inn of a cancellation will be responsible for an amount equal to a one-night’s deposit.

Enjoying Your Visit
For those who must go down to the sea again, arrangements are available for captained day charters, deep-sea fishing, kayaking, and scuba diving. Landlubbers can golf, shop along the Beaufort waterfront, visit the North Carolina Aquarium, explore Fort Macon State Park, Cape Lookout National Seashore, or go shelling and horseback riding on deserted beaches nearby. Close by on Harkers Island you may visit the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum where you can learn about the hunting and fishing traditions of Down East.

You may also take tours of Carrot Island, the Rachel Carson National Estuary or Shackleford Island where wild ponies frolic at water's edge. Spend a quiet day exploring these lovely beaches, walking among the gentle horses that inhabit the islands. Three of the town's most popular attractions, the North Carolina Maritime Museum , the Beaufort Historic District, and the Old Burying Ground, which predates the birth of America, are within a few steps of our front door. Just two doors from the Cedars, The NC Maritime Museum has a Blackbeard the Pirate exhibit with artifacts recovered from his flagship, Queen Anne's Revenge and a large scale model of the ship which sank at Beaufort Inlet in 1718.

HISTORY BUFFS
THE CEDARS INN is located in the heart of Beaufort’s Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Settled in 1709 and incorporated in 1722, Beaufort is North Carolina’s third oldest town and boasts a unique historic site less than one block from THE CEDARS.
