Located in the heart of Beaufort’s historic district, sitting proudly behind a stand of old cedars, THE CEDARS in Beaufort, NC has been watching over the harbor of this historical port town for nearly 250 years. Built in 1768, the Inn was the home of William Borden, son of a Rhode Island shipwright and gracious host to visiting sea captains trading along the Eastern Seaboard. THE CEDARS seaside Inn revives Borden's tradition of welcoming guests and providing a refreshing respite any time of the year. Settled in 1709 and incorporated in 1722, Beaufort is North Carolina’s third oldest town.

January 2013 saw renovations and updates to the beautiful Cedars Inn while still respecting and honoring the original details. Cool sea breezes in the summer, cozy fireplaces to ward off winter's winds and the lingering scent of cedar recapture the ambiance and ease of quieter times. You will feel our welcome throughout THE CEDARS INN, from the beautifully appointed rooms and suites to our sunlit dining room and shady porches. Complimentary coffee, tea and pastries in the morning for our Inn guests complete the welcome.

Room Features

All rooms have private baths or showers, hair dryers, cable TV, high speed wireless internet access, heat and air conditioning. We proudly feature Gilchrist & Soames bath amenities. For the comfort and protection of our guests, THE CEDARS INN has a No Smoking Policy for the entire premises including the grounds. We can accommodate young ladies and gentlemen over the age of 10. We have one room, the separate Carolina Cottage, available for pets. If interested, please ask about our pet policy.

Beaufort offers so much for everyone! Visit the Rachel Carson National Preserve or Shackleford Banks where wild ponies frolic at water's edge. Spend a quiet day exploring these lovely beaches, walking among the gentle horses that inhabit the islands. Three of the town's most popular attractions, the North Carolina Maritime Museum, the Beaufort Historic Site and the Old Burying Ground - all of which predate the birth of America - are within a few steps of our front door.
